We got the CD single from Cee-lo Green’s new track called “Fuck You”. Yeah, kinda vulgar, we know. But damn! We dare you not to listen to it and groove your ass off to it! Serious big groovadelic production here that shimmies and shakes it’s way right through you. Better yet, buy it from Uncle Sam’s tomorrow and get a coupon for $2.00 off the new Cee-Lo CD when it comes out on December 7th!

False Priest
Label: Polyvinyl Records

Released: September 14, 2010
Genres: Rock/Pop
Of Montreal exist in the brain of Kevin Barnes. “False Priest” is the brain child’s latest album. Barnes worked with super producer Jon Brion (Fiona Apple/Kanye West) who has added some definition to the album but didn’t change any of Kevin’s quirky ways. This album sounds like Prince producing a lost Freddie Mercury album. It has 80′s funk electronics with glam guitars and sheen. It also has guest vocals from indie soul queens Janelle Monae and Solange Knowles. They are his Wendy and Lisa, or maybe Vanity. One big improvement is the use of real orchestration and less midi or synth based sounds. I guess that is what I meant by definition in the production. Sometimes keyboard orchestra can sound thin while real instruments make it sound more regal. Another reference would be 10cc. That band had the same kind of massive vocal layers and hooks. I could go on but you need to hear it to decide. Some will cringe while others will scream genius. The best kind of artist in my opinion.-Tony@Thinkindie

The Suburbs
Label: Merge Records

Released: August 3, 2010
Length: 1h 4min
Arcade Fire are back with “The Suburbs” on Merge Records. This is a huge album for this band. With only two previous releases under its belt the band has built an enormous following based on their albums and live shows. This album seems a little subdued upon first listen. But, the more you listen the more you hear both musically and lyrically. They seem pretty happy in their skin and it shows. I have not been the biggest fan of this band. They just didn’t draw me in. I will say this one has sparked my interest and I assume super fans will drink it up with no problem. They just sold out two nights at Madison Square Garden so I expect we will be hearing more and more from this Canadian band on a mission. -Tony@Thinkindie

Miami’s VCRolab is a Multimedia collective who uses all their tools to bring to life a deep and colorful universe that you can experience through art. MECANICA ORGANICA is this trio’s debut, where they capture the concepts they have been developing in studio and live performances for the last 2 years. It is undoubtedly, the very essence of the collective.

More than a pocketful of songs, MECANICA ORGANICA is a concept album; a tasteful blend of rock, folklore and electronic music.

VCRolab is one of the is undoubtedly one of the more unique indie projects you’ll run across this year, bringing new ideas to the mainstream. They will certainly give everyone a lot to talk about!

The band is promoting the single “M1″ with an incredible video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cpYMOblNbA) and also putting together a promotional tour this summer trough South and North America. This will certainly include a date in Miami…

gorillazTwelve years ago, Blur frontman Damon Albarn and Tank Girl creator Jamie Hewlett formed Gorillaz — a ”virtual band” whose animated avatars and woozy beats pastiche seemed custom-fit for a dawning era of smartphones, iPods, and other Jetson-y gizmos.

”I’m useless, but not for long / The future is comin’ on,” Albarn drawled on their first single, the dubby alt-chart hit ”Clint Eastwood.”

He was right: Gorillaz’ self-titled debut sold
almost 2 million copies in the U.S. and made them stars, albeit in physical absentia (even in live performances, they are hidden behind
giant cartoon projections). A half decade after their last release, 2005′s multiplatinum sophomore outing Demon Days, the band has returned, once again gilding their four-character core with a delightfully random roster of guest stars: Snoop Dogg, legendary soul smoothie Bobby Womack, Lou Reed, and the Clash’s Mick Jones among them.

Like its name, Plastic Beach has a sharp tang of cognitive dissonance — its songs sound like dispatches from a crew of hip-kid astronauts, unmoored in some space-dust ether.
